Join the 2025 NWS Storm Spotter Training
Severe weather can strike with little warning, and having trained storm spotters in our community plays a critical role in public safety. The Clinton County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is partnering with the National Weather Service (NWS) to offer the 2025 NWS Storm Spotter Training on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This free training will take place at the Clinton County Administrative Campus, 1850 Davids Drive, Wilmington, OH 45177.
Why Attend the Storm Spotter Training?
This course is designed to educate residents, first responders, and weather enthusiasts on how to accurately observe and report severe weather conditions. Participants will learn:
How to identify severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, and other hazardous weather conditions.
The difference between severe and non-severe weather features.
The safest ways to report storm observations to the National Weather Service.
How spotter reports improve public safety and emergency response efforts.
A Reminder of Local Risks
The need for trained storm spotters became clear in 2024 when two tornadoes struck just north of Blanchester. These storms highlighted the importance of timely, accurate weather reports to enhance early warning capabilities.
