HUM 20240801

This is your Heads Up Message (HUM) for Thursday, 1 August 2024, that continues the same concerns for potential severe weather from Wednesday and continues into Friday.

Summary: Clinton County faces a SLIGHT risk of severe weather on Thursday, August 1, 2024.

Primary Threat:

  • Straight-line winds that may cause damage to trees and powerlines.

Potential Impacts:

  • Possible exacerbation of damage from the July 30, 2024, Blanchester EF-1 storm (e.g., weakened trees, roof damage).

  • Large hail possible, which could cause minor damage to crops and structures.

  • Heavy rain may lead to isolated flooding, making some roads impassable.

Additional Notes:

  • The SPC shows a 2% risk of tornadoes for Clinton County, although not mentioned in this summary. Nadocast machine modeling also shows little activity based on all models for our area.

  • Potential severe weather impact window: 4 PM to 10 PM today.

  • Overall forecast confidence is low regarding the timing and location of thunderstorms, but multiple rounds of storms are expected. Early storms followed by high temperatures and clear skies could fuel stronger storms later.

Hazardous Weather Outlook:

  • The probability for showers and thunderstorms will increase this afternoon into this evening. Some thunderstorms may be strong to severe. Damaging winds will be the primary severe weather threat. However, isolated large hail will also be possible. In addition, very heavy rainfall may occur, resulting in localized flooding.

  • The combination of heat and humidity will result in peak heat index values of 95 to 100 this afternoon.

Analysis Note: Yes, similar pattern for Friday as well, so stay prepared & be weather aware.
