Severe Weather Awareness Week in Ohio runs from March 16-22, with the Statewide Tornado Drill scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, at 9:50 AM. As we prepare for the upcoming severe weather season, Clinton County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) wants to ensure that all residents know how to receive timely and accurate information before, during, and after severe weather events.
How EMA Alerts You Before a Storm
When severe weather is forecasted, EMA will send out a Prepare Now Message (PNM) to those subscribed to the PNM list. These messages are typically sent 1-3 days in advance when strong indicators suggest a significant weather event.
How to Subscribe: Text the keyword PNM to 69310 to receive these updates.
The PNM will include a reference to the EMA preparedness webpage: www.cc-ema.org/prepare. It will also contain one or more keywords that direct residents to recommended preparation steps based on the specific threat:
SEVERE WX – General severe weather preparedness
POWER OUTAGE – Steps to prepare for potential extended power loss
TORNADO – Tornado safety and sheltering guidelines
SHELTER-IN-PLACE – Instructions for staying indoors safely
LOCKDOWN – Emergency lockdown procedures
WINTER – Winter storm preparedness
By clicking on the keyword in the message, residents can access customized preparation steps for the impending weather event.
